Terminology

Term

Definition

Area

A collection of Zones.

Automation

An "if-then" statement comprised of one or more Conditions that, when met, cause one or more Actions to take place.

Condition

A test as part of an Automation, evaluated upon an event that pertains to it.

Control

A human input device, such as a Dimmer or Wall Control.

Device

An individual Lightcloud hardware product, such as the Controller or Ceiling Sensor.

Event

Any system event, such as a Controller's Zone being switched on, a Ceiling Sensor detecting motion, etc.. Events may be used in some cases to trigger Automations.

Notification

The appearance of an Event in the Lightcloud Application.

Scene

A collection of state change requests, such as "Set Zone 2 to Relay Closed, Dim Level 50%"

Schedule

A state change to be requested at a specific time with optional repetition.

Sensor

A device that gathers data from the environment, such as a Ceiling Sensor or Daylight.

Site

A single Lightcloud installation, such as a parking garage, with one Gateway and one or more Lightcloud Devices.

Zone

A logical channel of lighting control. Zones are exposed by Devices such as the Controller.
